"The world we know cannot be wholly mind-independent, and it cannot be wholly mind-dependent… What is required is an attentive response to something real and other than ourselves, of which we have only inklings at first, but which comes more and more into being through our response to it — if we are truly responsive to it. We nurture it into being; or not. In this it has something of the structure of love."

responding to that text, yes. the things we choose to pay attention to, come alive. in choosing to pay attention, we are directing our love and our time towards something. piecing together our attention might as well be a way of piecing back together our love :) not sure this makes any sense... but it feels rebellious to me, to claim back the attention that has been intentionally scattered by the corporate greed of our extractivist system.
